DILLON SOUTHWEST CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF HELPING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES!!!!!

In October of 2003, we combined our annual Korean-American Thanksgiving Celebration with our agency's 20th Anniversary Celebration. The event was held at the Scottsdale Baseball Stadium. Over 850 adults and children enjoyed the many activities provided including arts and crafts, calligraphy, and Korean games. The adults enjoyed watching the children and bidding on the many silent auction items, viewing a slide show and looking at our memory tables and photo albums!.

All of us at Dillon Southwest were thrilled to see so many of you at the event. Your kind words and love overwhelmed all of us. Thank you to each and every one of you for coming and for the lovely gifts that were presented to all of us. We will treasure them always.

As we look back on twenty years, we are proud of the work that has and continues to be done by Dillon Southwest. We have a committed staff that is willing and able to help children and their families in their adoption journey. We are proud to be working with Eastern Social Welfare Society and look forward to working together on behalf of the children who need homes and the families wishing to adopt them.

Looking back over twenty years - our memory table

We were honored to have Dr. Kim, Do Young, President and C.E.O. of Eastern Social Welfare Society and his wife join us for our event. We have always had great admiration for Eastern Social Welfare Society and their commitment to children. During our celebration, we felt that it was fitting to honor Eastern Social Welfare Society for their dedication to children and their help to our agency. Together, both agencies have and will continue to make a difference in the lives of children – one child at a time.

We were very fortunate to have members of the Korean Classical Music and Dance Company at our event. They traveled from Los Angeles to share their talents with us. A special thank you to the Korean National Tourism Organization for sponsoring the dancers.

EASTERN SOCIAL WELFARE SOCIETY CELEBRATES THEIR 30TH ANNIVERSARY

On May 10, 2002, Eastern Social Welfare Society celebrated 30 years of helping to children and families. Since starting in 1972, Eastern has expanded their original mission of placing homeless children to also include the operation of a rehabilitation center, a school (pre-school through high school) to help children with special needs, a vocational training center and the Sodaemun District Community Social Service Center. This center operates diverse programs such as in-home services, child and youth welfare services, vocational skill-instruction services and welfare services for the mentally-ill and seniors.

Dillon Southwest is proud to be one of Eastern's cooperating agencies. Over the past nineteen years, Dillon Southwest has placed over 630 Korean-born children in Arizona. The entire staff of Dillon Southwest salutes Eastern Social Welfare Society on their 30th anniversary. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication to children and families.

A BEAUTIFUL QUILT

Many of you sent in pictures to be included in a quilt donated to Eastern Social Welfare Society in honor of their 30th anniversary. The quilt was designed and hand made by two of our adoptive moms, Anne and Rise'. It has been displayed for all to admire on the fourth floor of the Eastern guest house. The staff of Eastern was thrilled to receive this beautiful treasure from Arizona.
